About this document
Your partner lab asks for your consent before your reports are read with Mutanex. This document sets out what that consent covers, so you can read it before you agree. The lab records your consent, and you can ask it, or us, for a copy.
What happens
- You share the reports you already have with your partner lab, and answer a few questions about your health
- Mutanex reads your results together, against your own history and published guidelines, and drafts a report: what stands out, and the few tests worth doing next, each with what it decides
- The lab's registered pathologist reviews, edits and signs the report. Nothing is released unsigned
- You take the report to your own doctor, who decides on any treatment
- Retests are booked at your lab, and each new result is read against your history
What you consent to
- Your partner lab and Mutanex processing your reports, results and the information you give, to prepare and sign your report
- Keeping your results while you stay in the programme, so that later results are read against your history
- Reminders from your lab when a retest is due
Consent is asked for each purpose separately and recorded before processing begins. You can withdraw it as easily as you gave it.
Optional, and asked separately
- Research
- With your separate, explicit consent, de-identified data may be used for research. Declining does not affect the services you receive, their quality or their price.
- Updates from Mutanex
- Occasional emails about Mutanex. You can stop them at any time.
- Genetics or imaging
- Not offered today. If they are offered later, they will need their own consent.
Not an option: training AI on your data
We do not use your identifiable health data, your uploaded documents, or any analysis generated for you to train, fine-tune, develop or improve any artificial intelligence or machine-learning model. We do not permit any third-party provider to do so. This is a default, not an option you must find and switch off.
What Mutanex does not do
- It does not diagnose, prescribe or treat
- It does not replace your doctor
- It is not for emergencies
Please do not start, stop or change any medicine on your own.
What it can offer, and its limits
What it can offer: your results read together and over time, every statement with its source, and a short list of what to discuss with your doctor.
- A report can only read the results it has. Missing or old results limit what it can say
- Guidelines and evidence change. A report reflects the evidence when it was prepared
- Some results may be worrying or unexpected. Your doctor is the right person to explain them
- Software and people can make mistakes. That is why a pathologist signs every report and your doctor decides
Your data
Your partner lab is responsible for your data, and Mutanex processes it for the lab. The privacy policy explains this in full.
Each partner's data is kept in its own deployment and is never pooled with another partner's data. History from another lab reaches your report only through reports you choose to share.
Health data of patients in India is processed and stored in India. Health data of patients in the United States is processed and stored in the United States.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share health data with advertisers, data brokers or marketing networks, and we do not use health data for advertising of any kind.
Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, by telling your partner lab or writing to privacy@mutanex.com. Your data is then deleted within 30 days, except what the law requires the lab to keep. Withdrawing does not undo processing that took place before, and does not affect any other care the lab gives you.
Eligibility
To book, you must be 18 or over. Booking for a family member requires their consent or your legal authority to act for them; for a child, that is a parent or lawful guardian.
If you consent for a child as their parent or lawful guardian, "you" and "your" in this document mean the child.
